A Toppenish convenience store and restaurant at the intersection of West First St. and Buena Way has new owners and a new name.

The newly-named Kuki Mart has been purchased by Kuki and Jiti Singh, of Moses Lake. They re-opened the mart Dec. 2.

The Singhs have two other businesses in Moses Lake.  

Kuki Singh said he is re-opening the small restaurant in the facility and will also resume the sale of gasoline at the mart, which was formerly a Shell outlet.

Singh said he plans to offer a wide variety of food in the restaurant section of the mart, including both hot and cold dishes.

He said food items will include breakfast, lunch and dinner choices, such as rice and chicken dishes, pizza whole or by the slice, hot and cold sandwiches, and biscuits and gravy.

Food items will be available in “meal and deal” promotions with food and a drink at a special price, and new food items will be added from time to time.

Singh said he and his wife have been in the food business for nearly 30 years, in several locations in Washington, California, and Canada.

Hours of operation for Kuki Mart are 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Singh said he may expand those hours to ‘round the clock operation at a later time.

He said he will be hiring more employees at the mart as time goes by.

“Our whole country needs new jobs,” Singh said.    

Daytime managers of the mart are Jesse and Rani Singh, who are from California and are friends of the owners, but are not related.
