American Cancer Society Daffodil Days volunteer coordinators are knocking on area doors and making phone calls, offering daffodils to their friends, family members, neighbors, and co-workers.
The money raised from the fresh Northwest-grown bouquets assists the American Cancer Society in fulfilling its mission of eliminating cancer as a major health problem.
The volunteers are also offering the Boyds collectable plush bear, designed especially for Daffodil Days.
According to Sue Jordahl, Volunteer Services Manager for the American Cancer Society, orders for the bouquets and bears will continue to be taken through Feb. 17.
The daffodils will be flown in fresh from the Skagit Valley on March 2, picked up by a tow truck donated by Action Towing, and delivered to the seven area coordinators for distribution.
Jordahl said that after minimal expenses, every dollar raised from the event will go to help the American Cancer Society continue its funding of cancer research, its legislative advocacy, and its educational and patient services programs.
