The Junior League of Yakima has awarded more than $6000 in grants to local organizations.
This year’s recipients are Yakima Hearing and Speech Center, $2,402; NAMI Yakima, $1,500; First Book of Yakima, $1,000, Aware, Inc. SWAT Training, $1575, and Northwest Harvest, $300 special award.
The awards were made March 9, during a special presentation at the Allied Arts Building in Yakima.
The Junior League of Yakima is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
