Donations needed for project homeless connect

  • 1-18-2011

YAKIMA – Project Homeless Connect will once again take place in conjunction with the 7th Annual Point In Time Survey January 27 in Yakima and Sunnyside.
Project Homeless Connect is a service fair designed to help connect people who are homeless with services currently available to them and it takes place during the Point in Time Survey, an annual count of people who are homeless in Yakima County.
Last year over 500 people attended the Project Homeless Connect events in Yakima and Sunnyside.
Attendees received services such as health and dental screenings, haircuts, free phone calls, a hot meal and care packages.
The Homeless Network of Yakima County coordinates the events and is looking for donations to help support them.
Currently there is a great need for the following items:  Clothing, shoes, blankest, backpacks and duffle bags, and personal hygiene items.
If you would like to make a donation, please contact the Yakima County Department of Human Services at (509) 574-1520.
All donations are tax deductable.
