YAKIMA - Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) will contribute $1,000 to the Yakima Greenway Foundation in Ronda Ide’s honor to recognize the valuable contributions she has made to the organization, through its Volunteer Service Award program.

Ide, a senior vice president with Wells Fargo Insurance Services, is based in Yakima.   She has been volunteering with Yakima Greenway for more than seven years.  She has served as a board member, executive board member and board president. She has also served as chair of the Gap2Gap relay event benefiting the Yakima Greenway Foundation and the Rail2Trail expansion to Naches.

The purpose of the Yakima Greenway Foundation is to conserve, enhance and maintain the Yakima Greenway as a continuing living resource for future generations.

“Ronda has shown an extraordinary commitment to the Yakima Greenway Foundation by volunteering hundreds of hours on projects related to the Yakima Greenway mission,” said Joel Pearson, Wells Fargo Insurance Services manager for Central Washington. “Wells Fargo team members recognize the importance of supporting the health and vitality of our Central Washington communities and they are sharing their time and talents to help the entire community.”

“Their giving spirits not only help communities but also help us better determine how the company can support and enhance communities,” Pearson added.

In its 33rd year, the Wells Fargo Volunteer Service Award program continues to recognize and reward team members for their volunteer efforts with contributions from Wells Fargo to the nonprofit or K-12 school where they volunteer.

This year, 241 team members, including Ide and eight other Washington team members, were awarded a total of $400,000 to their organizations.

Wells Fargo team members are encouraged to nominate their co-workers or themselves to recognize the outstanding efforts of the volunteer and the nonprofit organization.

Winners are selected by an internal selection committee, which evaluates the team member’s personal commitment to the organization, effectiveness of their work, and the value of their work to their community.

Wells Fargo makes it easy for team members to get involved through our Wells Fargo Volunteers program.

In 2010, Washington team members reported 35,000 volunteer hours. They served as mentors, board members, project leaders, fundraisers, educators and more.

Wells Fargo also donated $2.5 million in 2010 to 425 nonprofits and schools in Washington.
