Amtech, LLC awarded $1 million to add 35 jobs over next two years
WAPATO - Amtech, LLC, a manufacturer of composite-based products for the construction, military, and transportation industries, announced it has received two grants totaling nearly $1 million. The grants will be used to expand the business and add up to 35 jobs over the next two years.
The grants were awarded by the Supporting Investments in Economic Diversification (SIED) board, an organization that distributes money from a state sales-tax fund to promote ongoing operation and expansion of businesses in rural areas of Washington, and from the Yakama Nation.
Amtech is a portfolio company of Blackford Capital, LLC, a national private equity firm headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich., that acquires, manages and builds middle-market energy, manufacturing, distribution and service companies. Under Blackford’s ownership, Ametch’s sales have more than doubled in the past three years.
“Amtech has outgrown its current space in the Wapato Industrial Park,” said Martin Stein, founder and managing partner of Blackford Capital. “These grants will allow us to add 60,000 square feet to our local operations and, more importantly, hire new employees.”
A portfolio company of Blackford Capital since 2008, Amtech is headquartered in Wapato, Wash., and currently employs 180 people.
